Author Interview- J.L. Sheppard

Tell me three words that describe yourself starting with A, B, and C.
Adventurous, Blessed, Caring.
Happy Tuesday readers.
Today I've got author J.L. Sheppard sharing her book, Heavenly Desire, which is on sale for 99 cents for a limited time!

What are your three favorite things?
Family, friends and books.

Are you self- published or with a publishing company (if so, which one?)?
I’ve published four books, all through publishing companies. My first, Demon King’s Desire, was published with Cobblestone Press. Burdened by Desire, Heavenly Desire and Awaiting Fate were published with the Wild Rose Press.

What for you is the best part of writing? What is the worst?

The best part about writing is getting ideas. The worst can be editing. (It depends on how much you have to edit and whether you agree with your editor.)

Is there a process you stick to, or do you just write as it hits you?
I write as it hits me. I do not plan at all, which means I edit a lot.

Will there be more books in your series, or can you tell us about any previous books?
Heavenly Desire is part of the Elemental Sisters Series, and there will be two more books to the series. One of which is written. Awaiting Fate, my latest release, is a part of a series, a spin-off to the Elemental Sisters Series. There will also be more books to that series.

When not writing, what can you be found doing?
Caring for my 7-month-old.

Favorite writer, book?
Too many favorites! My favorite authors: Kresley Cole, Jeanine Frost, Lynsay Sands and Kristen Ashley. My absolute favorite books: Demon from the Dark, A Hunger like No Other, Own the Wind, Lady Luck, One Foot in the Grave and Vampire Interrupted.

When writing, which do you prefer to write with, computer or paper and pen?
Laptop.

Will he sacrifice his wings for a woman he loves but can never keep?

BLURB

Clyde, an angel, battles the one thing he believes will lead to his fall from heaven—his new found emotions, forbidden among his kind. Nonetheless, the Angel Lords promise to promote him to warrior when he completes his last assignment—to find Jade. When he does, emotions he never knew possible arise. For the first time in two thousand years, he cursed his existence. Knowing she can never be his, will he sacrifice his wings for a woman he loves but can't keep?

EXCERPT

He bent toward her, wrapped one arm around her waist, the other around her back, then buried his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled.
Relishing the feel of her body melded against his, he forgot the worries consuming him. She soothed his ache with a mere touch, with a mere embrace.
Exactly what he’d wanted, exactly what he needed.
She then pressed her full lips against his cheek, kissing him lightly.
An innocent kiss. There was no passion behind it, but an unconscious consuming need, one he’d never felt, swelled inside him—desire. It was exciting, overwhelming and terrifying, blocking logic and reason.
All he wanted now was a single kiss. All he could think about was how her soft lips would feel pressed against his.
Marvelous, he concluded.
It was absurd to want what he did and feel what he felt, for he was an angel. Carnal desires even as insignificant as kisses were for others, for all others except his breed, and yet he felt it so deeply it seared him.
The desire that gripped him didn’t release him even after she unhooked her arms from around his neck, and the warmth of her body melted away.
There he stood, immobile, battling the desire she’d sparked. He didn’t want to leave yet knew he had to before he’d acted out his longing.
He willed his body to move. Finally, he placed one foot behind the other, stepped back and strode away praying the yearning he had no right to feel for a woman who would never be his would soon subside.

Author Interview- Sydney St. Claire

Happy Monday readers!
Please join with me in welcoming back author Sydney St. Claire
and her new book, Beauty Submits to her Beast.

Welcome back Sydney, please start by telling me three words that describe yourself
starting with A, B, and C.

Accepting of who I am yet Always trying to Better myself and Be all I Can be and to be Confident and Caring of others in my Circle of life

What are your three favorite things?

My laptop, my Ipad and my smart phone.
With those three things I can read, be organized, have fun, be productive.

What is the ultimate goal you have for your career?

Well, make lots of money but I’ve yet to do that so I’ll settle for producing books that take my readers out of themselves and their troubles for at least a little while. And maybe there’ll be a gem of wisdom found in my stories that touch and affect my readers.

Describe your perfect day?

No cats sitting on my keyboard, no barking dogs. No having to play door monitor to the animals so I can write uninterrupted?  Oh wait, I love my guys so that’s part of the deal….
Okay, a good day is one I feel like I accomplished something and didn’t piddle half the day away. A good day is one where I feel good about myself and the world around me.  As I’m optimistic, and positive thinking, this isn’t too bad. A good day is when I remember to be grateful for the good things, even the little things and to recognize those small favors the universe bestows. Finally a good day is a day spent with friends.

As the holidays approach, what traditions do you have?

Since the kids left home, we don’t have too many traditions. I like to decorate the outside of the house but haven’t been able to for a couple of years.  Maybe this year. I have a new grandchild and I look forward to creating some new traditions with her.

Will there be more books in your series, or can you tell us about any previous books?

The Once Upon A Dom series has six books right now. I’m working on Rapunzel Gets Her Dom and next up is Wendy and Captain Dom. There are another six characters in the works to continue. Here are the titles
-Cinderella & Prince Dom
-Red & Her Big Bad Dom
-Snow & Her Huntsman
-Beauty Submits to her Beast—Newly released
-Rapunzel Gets Her Dom—Fall 2015
-Wendy & Captain Dom Late Fall, early Winter 2015

When not writing, what can you be found doing?

Crocheting or knitting. I just finished a crocheted tank top. If it’s not too hot I’ll go tend my garden. I also like to read and even play silly games on my Ipad.

Favorite item of clothing in your closet?

I like comfortable clothes. Old worn tees, distreputable shorts. Nothing tight and binding. I need to breath when writing.

When writing, which do you prefer to write with, computer or paper and pen?

Oh computer all the way. If I didn’t have a computer I wouldn’t write. Using pen and paper ruins my creative process totally. I can’t stand scratching and messiness as I’m writing. On the computer, I can edit as I go and get it right. On paper, you have to scratch out and rewrite and then I lose the threads of the good stuff. I used to write longhand when away from the computer but by the time I got to the computer to type it in, I’d stop copying and just write. So it’s a wasted step. Now I might make notes. But not write.

BLURB

Rancher Caitlin Olsen is in complete control of her life. After years of taking care of others, she’s on her own and loving every minute. She has her horses and her ranch. What more does she need? Yet deep inside, she yearns to give up all her responsibilities and simply experience life. When a friend suggests she try a bit of BDSM role-play, she does her research and accepts an invitation to Pleasure Manor for a fairy tale event.

Former Navy SEAL and Dominant, Damon Steele is a loner. His failure to keep his team alive destroyed too many hopes and dreams. He won’t be responsible for anyone else's life or happiness ever again. There’s no room in his life—or his heart—for romance. Instead, he satisfies his needs at BDSM clubs and never with the same sub. Taking part in the fairy tale event at Pleasure Manor is difficult enough, but when Beauty challenges him both in the bedroom and out, he’s not sure he can control his inner beast.

EXCERPT

Caitlin woke during the night in the heavenly bed beneath the open skylight. She’d fallen asleep with her very own prince, in her very own miniature castle. Overhead, the wind rustled through the trees, and the lonely call of their owl drifted into the tree house. Stars winked above. She snuggled deeper. The bed with its feather comforter and mattress top along with the Egyptian cotton sheets was like sleeping inside a cloud.
She turned and stretched out her arms, needing to feel Damon and to prove she wasn’t dreaming. His side of the bed was empty.
Sitting, she frowned. A low sound from the other room caught her attention. “Damon?”
The moan came again. Caitie grabbed the robe she’d used after her shower and left bed. She found him thrashing on the couch. A slanting beam of moonlight revealed a face twisted with pain.
He called out, flung out his arm. Caitie quickly realized he was trapped in the throes of a nightmare. Unsure what to do, she went to him. She knew from the many vets on her ranch not to touch him in case he thought she was an enemy and tried to attack in defense of whatever stalked his mind.
She turned on the lights. He’d removed his leather pants and slept in his own skin. A quilt was twisted beneath him, half on the floor. She couldn’t stop herself from staring. Even asleep, the man had the most impressive body she’d ever seen.
She frowned when she spotted a long, deep, ragged scar furrowed his upper thigh from just shy of groin to his knee. The muscles were taut, and spasms rippled beneath the puckered skin. Good lord. No wonder he limped. She sucked in her breath and sat on the edge of the couch. She knew enough to know he was both lucky to be alive and to have his leg.
“Damon. I’m here. Can you hear me?” As though she were gentling a frightened horse, she spoke soft and low, calling his name. At the same time, she slid her palm up his thigh, her touch faint and gentle, applying more pressure so she didn’t startle him. When she was able to touch him fully, she began massaging his thigh with her thumbs, using long, smooth strokes.
Trapped in his nightmare, Damon lashed out. He heard shouting, screaming, and shrieking. He tried to stand. Couldn’t. Hurt—bad. His men. They needed help. Ambushed. Fuck.
“Can’t get them. Can’t save them.” The pain in his thigh took his breath away. Had he lost his leg? The pain. Breathing was labored, and his heart pounded. He was weak, everything going gray, as though his life was draining from his body.
“It’s all right, Damon. You’re dreaming.”
The gentle voice of an angel threaded through his nightmare, soothing, calming. Heaven? He tried to open his eyes, but the light was too bright. “Not—dream. My men. Killed them.”
“Wake now. You’re safe. You’re with me.”
Safe. The soft, low voice promised he was safe.
“No!” He didn’t deserve to be safe. Or soothed. His men were dead. He was not. Families destroyed. His fault. Pain had him gasping. Pain he deserved.
Except the pain was fading, replaced by warmth seeping into him. He relaxed as hands unknotted muscles and warmed him, as his angel talked and tore him from the grips of hell. He opened his eyes and blinked. An angel in white sat beside him. Not an angel. Caitlin.

BIO

Sydney St. Claire is the pseudonym of Susan Edwards, author of 14 Historical Native American/Western/Paranormal romances and the author of the popular “White” Series.
Sydney loves writing and sharing stories of love, happiness and dreams come true with her readers. She credits her mother for her writing success.  Encouraged to read as a child, she always preferred happy endings which meant romances were her favorite genre.  Sydney takes her readers into the world of erotica romance where her characters come together in explosive passion as they solve life’s problems and find true love along with the best sex our hero and heroine have ever experienced.
Sydney’s office is quite crowded with three dogs at her feet and five cats to keep her company while she writes. Three cats always insist on beds on her desk, barely leaving enough room for her monitor and keyboard. Life gets fun when all five insist on supervising…
When not writing, she enjoys crafts of all sorts including quilting, sewing, cross-stitch and knitting. She and her husband of 30 + years are avid gardeners. He takes care of the veggies, and Susan is in charge of the ‘pretties’. Her medicine wheel garden is in a contact state of war: flowers vs. weeds. Sadly, right now the weeds are wining…
While writing, she listens to a wide variety of music. Her current favorites are Blackmore’s Night and David Lanz.

Author Interview- J.J. DiBenedetto

Happy Thursday readers.

Please join with me in welcoming author J.J. DiBenedetto to the
blog.

J.J. recently reached the huge milestone of 10,000 sales!

Congrats J.J.!

Welcome J.J. please start by telling me three words that describe yourself starting with A, B, and C.

Affable, big-hearted, creative

What are your three favorite things?

My wife, my cat, and a four-course fondue dinner.

Are you self- published or with a publishing company (if so, which one?)?

Self-published.  I decided on that right from the start.

How much is your character like you?

Sara, my heroine, has a lot of traits that I admire – she’s hard-working, loyal and brave.  And she has some of my flaws – as smart as she is, she can easily miss things right in front of her, she’s always the last to get a joke, she can let her emotions get the best of her.  But I think there’s a little bit of me in almost all my characters.  That’s probably true of all writers, though.

Will there be more books in your series, or can you tell us about any previous books?
I’m working on the 10th and final book in my series right now.  I could revisit it, or explore some of the other characters, but for now it’s going to end, and I have what I think is a logical and satisfying place to leave Sara and her family and friends.

Favorite writer, book?

Writer, Stephen R Donaldson.  Book, “Winter’s Tale” by Mark Helprin

When writing, which do you prefer to write with, computer or paper and pen?

Definitely computer!  My handwriting is awful – half the time I can’t read it myself, so there’d be no point writing with pen and paper.

Thanks for being with us today J.J., now let's see those books.

DREAM STUDENT, book 1

College junior Sara Barnes thought her life was totally under control.  All she had to worry about was her final exams, Christmas shopping, applying to medical school – and what to do about the cute freshman in the next dorm with a crush on her.  Everything was going according to plan, until the night she started seeing other people’s dreams.
It’s bad enough that Sara is learning more than she ever needed to know about her friends and classmates, watching their most secret fantasies whether she wants to or not.  Much worse are the other dreams, the ones she sees nearly every night, featuring a strange, terrifying man who commits unspeakable crimes.  Now Sara wonders if she’s the only witness to a serial killer – and the only one who knows when and where he’s going to strike next.
Dream Student is the first book of the Dream Series.

 FEVER DREAM, book 9

Dr. Sara Alderson isn’t used to her patients dying for no reason.  When a young boy succumbs to a mysterious illness that defies all her efforts to treat it, she refuses to accept defeat.
After two months of questions, Sara has attracted the attention of powerful people who don’t want their secrets uncovered, and will go to any lengths to make sure they stay hidden.
Now, time is running out for Sara to unravel the mystery before anyone else falls victim to the illness.  And before her career, her family and her freedom are taken from her by enemies she doesn’t even know she has.
Fever Dream is the ninth book of the Dream Series

About the Dream Series
What if you could see everyone else’s dreams?  That’s the question Sara has to wrestle with in the Dream Series.  We first meet her as a shy, bookish college student who doesn’t think there’s anything extraordinary about herself.  And then the dreams start…
Over the course of the series, Sara learns to live with these supernatural dreams and all the trouble they plunge her into.  At the same time, she grows from a student to a practicing doctor; and from a single girl to a wife and mother.  But every time she thinks she’s got everything figured out, life – and her extraordinary dreams – teach her that she’s always got more to learn…

 Bio:

J.J. (James) Dibenedetto's fans would swear he's got a sixth sense when it comes to seeing into the minds of others and often wonder if his stories could possibly be fiction. He enjoys suspending disbelief with suspenseful paranormal tales that are a perfect blend of reality meets fantasy.
His popular Dream Series continues to delight readers with each and every exciting installment.
Born in Yonkers, New York, he currently resides in Arlington Virginia with his beautiful wife and a cat he is sure has taken full advantage of its nine lives. When it comes to the cat, he often wonders, but then again it might just be his imagination.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

'Like Mother, Like Daughter'. 'Like Father, Like Son.' How often have we heard those phrases?

As a parent, it amazes me to no end when my kids emulate and surpass the strengths of myself and their dad.  It also embarrasses me to no end when they all to gleefully embrace our weaknesses, making us regret every single stupid thing we ever did to our own parents.

Fortunately  this post isn't about weaknesses. It's about strength and the awe of seeing yourself mirrored in your child and at a glance, being able to see the bright future that lies ahead of them and being so infinitely proud of the children that God gave us, to conceive and raise to the best of our abilities

For the past several months, my youngest, Emilee has been writing her own book.
She's spent countless hours filling notebooks full of drawings and writings. She's set up boards on Pinterest  (she's got a thousand more followers than I do, no lie) trying to bring her characters to life through celebrity inspiration, costumes, and weapons. I've listened to her explain about her characters, answered what questions I could concerning paranormal powers and characters. As she continues to bang away at her story.

I've managed to avoid reading what she's wrote so far, encouraging her to finish writing it all down in her notebooks before borrowing the computer to type it all in. (The same process I go through) So that she can "flesh" out her characters as she types and in the process gain confidence from what she's written without being influenced by what I might say (aside from editing) that might alter the flow of her story in a way that takes it from the path that she wants it to go.

A writer's ego is such a fragile thing and being young, I don't want her to think that she needs to conform her writing to appease her readers. Because there is NO way she can appease them all! None of us can.

That being said, (and boy did this post go in a totally different direction than I wanted it to), I left my computer on this morning while I went to grab a quick shower and when I got back, this small excerpt was on the screen. I was blown away. Quickly filled with a pride that has yet to abate, because dang, she's good.

So without further ado, this one proud mama would like to present a small excerpt from Jackilin Red and the Destroyers by Emilee Hayes. A young adult paranormal filled with vamipres, shifters, werewolves, and childhood dreams
*Copyright- Emilee Hayes

An earsplitting scream cut through the sky. Then, I realized that the scream was coming from me!

Right before I hit the ground someone caught me. I opened my eyes a little and saw him. His eyes were turning a fiery red from anger his wing blared and sparks flew everywhere. He flew over toward a corner and set me down.

“Sam! Come stop the blood! I’ll take them.” He said. His eyes were starting to look like they were on fire. They were full of anger, yet they were beautiful.

“Okay. Lio! Fight with Adam, I’ll be with Jackilin!” she yelled.

Then, I went unconscious from blood loss. I was hallucinating. I was in a field, with grass and nothing else. Adam wasn’t there. Then, I fell to the ground and started screaming loudly.  He wasn’t there and I started freaking out like a little girl. Suddenly, I realized I loved him. I missed him. Not because he saved me, but because he was him.
